Tikkivo Countdown Timer

Setup guide

From your first draft to a countdown on your storefront.

1. Create, publish and place a timer

  1. Open Tikkivo Countdown Timer from Apps in Shopify admin and create a campaign. Set the name, storefront heading, optional description and button, schedule, design and placement.
  2. Save draft keeps edits private. For an already published campaign, the previous published version stays live until you publish again. Publish saves the draft and sends its settings to Shopify. Check for success or an error; saving a draft alone does not make it visible.
  3. Use the campaign’s theme setup link. Publishing does not add a block or enable an embed automatically. Configure the placement below in the theme editor and save your theme changes.
  4. Open the matching storefront page and check desktop, mobile, button links and expiry behavior. The editor preview is illustrative and does not apply page targeting.

Four placements

  • Page section: add the Tikkivo app block as a section in the relevant page template. Move it into position and save.
  • Product details: add the app block inside your theme’s product details section, near the price or buy buttons. This requires a section that supports app blocks. Move it into position and save.
  • Top bar: enable the Tikkivo bar app embed and save. The dismissible bar stays fixed to the top of the screen.
  • Bottom bar: enable the same bar app embed and save. The dismissible bar stays fixed to the bottom of the screen.

For a page or product block, leave Campaign ID blank to select the first matching published page section or product details campaign, in the published list order. This selection matches placement type and page/resource targeting; it does not skip a campaign just because its schedule is waiting or expired. Paste a published campaign ID to select that campaign explicitly. It still must match the page targeting. Multiple blocks with blank IDs can show the same timer.

Bars select the first active matching campaign per edge; if none is active, the first matching expired campaign with an ended message can appear. A visitor can dismiss a bar for the browser tab session.

2. Choose an honest schedule

  • Fixed deadline: set the deadline and optional start in UTC, as labeled in the editor. Convert your intended local time to UTC. All visitors share this deadline; the daily timezone setting does not change it.
  • Daily schedule: enter a valid IANA timezone, such as Europe/Vilnius, and a start and end time. The end must be later on the same day; overnight windows are not supported. The schedule repeats each day in that timezone, including daylight saving changes.
  • Per-visitor / evergreen: choose 1–43,200 minutes. The timer begins when that campaign first initializes in a visitor’s browser and stores its deadline locally. Refreshing does not restart it. Existing deadlines are not reset by publishing edits to the same campaign. Different browsers/devices, private browsing or cleared storage can create a new deadline. If browser storage is blocked, the evergreen timer stays hidden. This is not a customer account deadline.

Before its start a timer stays hidden. At expiry, choose to hide it or display your ended message. A daily timer starts again at its next daily window. Timing depends on the visitor’s device clock.

The app displays a countdown only. It does not create or automatically apply discounts, end promotions at checkout, reserve stock or enforce purchase eligibility. Set the real offer and discount dates separately in Shopify and explain any visitor-specific conditions accurately.

3. Target the right pages

Choose home, product, collection, cart or regular pages. Product details placement is restricted to product pages. Product and collection IDs are optional: with both lists empty, all resources on selected page types can match. When supplied, matching either a product ID or collection ID is enough; a product in a selected collection can match too. The page type must still match. A home or cart page normally has no product or collection context, so specific resource filters can prevent a timer appearing there.

4. Match your storefront

Edit heading, description, button text, ended message and the Days, Hours, Minutes and Seconds labels for your storefront language. These are manual labels, not automatic per-language translations. Choose colors, a preset, spacing, corner radius and desktop/mobile heading sizes. Check color contrast and readability. The mobile visibility option hides the timer at viewport widths of 600px or below. A button needs both text and a valid store path or HTTPS URL.

5. Pause, duplicate or delete

Pause removes the published timer while keeping its saved configuration. Publish it again to resume. Duplicate creates a separate draft. Delete removes the campaign and its live timer after confirmation; a theme block pinned to that campaign ID will then have no matching campaign. You can save up to 25 campaigns and publish up to 20 at once. Remove unused drafts or pause a live timer if you reach a limit.

Timer not visible?

  1. Confirm publication succeeded and the campaign is not paused. If publication is unconfirmed, refresh, review the saved draft and retry publishing.
  2. Confirm the block or app embed is enabled in the correct theme and template, then save the theme.
  3. Check the block’s Campaign ID and first-match behavior, page types, product/collection restrictions and the campaign placement.
  4. Check UTC for fixed deadlines, the daily timezone and window, expiry choice, mobile visibility, and whether this browser already finished its evergreen countdown or dismissed the bar.
  5. Test the actual storefront with JavaScript enabled. If storage is unavailable, evergreen timers cannot start. Check your theme’s support for app blocks and ensure a fixed bar does not cover navigation or checkout controls.
